With this neverending snowfall that we've seen this year, our snow days are adding up at an alarming rate. Even though we all enjoy a day off of school, it is putting our Globaloria progress at a standstill. I haven't actually been in the classroom with my students in almost 2 weeks. They have been so excited and ready to start creating and I'm hoping this time off won't have affected their enthusiasm. So far, they have gotten wiki pages created - written a blurb about themselves, and slightly decorated them, created a blog site and posted to it, worked with their board blasts, added friends, gotten google accounts, taken digital camera pics of each other and their teams to post on the wikis and/or blogs, created teams and brainstormed game ideas. They have probably done other things, but I can't remember all of it (that's why I should make myself blog more often!!). We have been so busy, but it seems like we just get started and class is over. Then, with these snow days . . . Whew!!
I'm excited about the students' game ideas. I think they are too. One student, a member of The Naughty Krew Team http://nkblogdaily.blogspot.com/ blogged about his game idea and I think it will prove to be a fun game. I was always a space invaders fan and it reminds me of it!
Another student of the B Double A Team blogged about an idea for a maze http://alisonsblog92.blogspot.com/. I think it is a great idea, but I have no clue about how to code something like that. I bet we'll be making lots of contacts with the Globaloria help desk.
My other team Billies 53&61 are going totally away from the health angle and focusing on the terrorist concern that faces America http://rawr61.blogspot.com/. I am excited to see what they do with their ideas.
Then, my class with two students are the Joneses ... They focused on their common last names and are going with a Pirate theme. They are focusing their game on alcohol and problems and concerns of drinking. Their class is a little behind due to class meetings and absences, but they are catching up with the other class.
